MooSPEED IV - Build Diary

January 2003

First major purchase towards the car this year are the seats, these are the Tillett full-height bucket seats in carbon/kevlar. These were my ultimate choice in terms of seats but would have been too costly.

Luckily I was able to buy them for a reasonable price as they are classed as "seconds". Essentially this means that there are a few gaps in the resin coating giving a sort of scabby finish in some areas. The plan is to try and add some resin and smooth it over. If I can't do it then I'll just have to get them re-covered at extra cost, still cheaper than new items though.

They really are a pleasure to sit in and weigh next to nothing, certainly the two of them together weigh a lot less than just one of the fibreglass seats. I'll need to make up some form of mounting as they would usually sit on runners.

Very happy with these - hopefully I won't ruin them trying to tidy the holes

These pictures really don't do justice to the seats, something you can't appreciate from the pics is the weight either. Seriously lightweight !!

Also measured up around the sprocket to see about the possibility of using an electric reverse. I can't see it being possible as the flange sits very close to the side of the crankcase, will be trying a rear-mounted template shortly.

Not enough space for mounting reverse at the front of prop;

Too tight here..

..no room here..

..and here..

... oh poo !!

These pictures have been a bit too squashed, if you want the full versions where you can read the sizes let me know by clicking on the cow icon to email me.
