MooSPEED IV - Build Diary

July 2003

Yep - we are still here...
Well it's taken four months for this update to happen - seemingly no end of jobs has made it tricky to get to spend time in the garage. Small matter of getting married, one month on holiday, trip to Le Mans (checkout the events page), blah-de-blah, etc, etc.

Progress since March

Propshaft mounted.
Gearshift installed.
Clutch completed.
Oil pressure sensor fitted.
Kevlar seats being filled in (quite tricky)
erm... loads of bits painted - hammerite takes a week to dry !!
erm... oh, I've bought my digidash - haven't tried it yet
and I've swopped my carbon can for a titanium one (they weigh exactly the same though)

Here I've tapped into the hollow bolt on the oil cooler for an oil pressure sensor

Twin exhausts !! 1 carbon, 1 titanium - exactly the same weight.

Knob

Clutch sprung at pedal end - still a bit "loose"

Rubber-mounted oil pressure sensor firmly onto chassis

Bell crank gearchange - sturdy job

Filling resin holes in seats

Kranky idea this one !! A negative pressure crankcase valve

Clutch extension lever - this is now runs the cable exactly in line with the bottom of the pedal and also allows for a thin cable to be used and give much more control.

Still looks like a climbing frame... A racing climbing frame...

Home-made centre bearing bracket (rock solid though)
