Birkett 6-Hour Endurance 2002, 2003
This was a chance to see bike-engined cars in action against just about every form of clubbie racers. The format is a handicapped 6 hour endurance run whereby team members go out to do their stint (in the case of the MDS Battery team this was until the fuel was running low) and then they hand-over as per a relay race to the next in line. If there are any doubts as to the durability of a superbike engine in a car then this should dispel them, bearing in mind this is the final race after a complete season - all of the cars finished within the confines of the pits and not with anything broken and stranded on the other side of the track. 2003 Update - Much the same format as last year but two BEC teams this year. Greasy track, wildly differing types of car and rain in the final 20 minutes - superb !! Would love to do this one day... email me if you want any bigger piccies - these have all been shrunk to fit...
